सोजत का इतिहास
प्राचीन ऐतिहासिक एवं धार्मिक नगरी सोजत के रक्त रंजित इतिहास के साथ साथ धार्मिक आस्था के बीच परवान चढ़ती अध्यात्म की ज्योति तथा सुर्ख मेहन्दी की आभा ने इसे अन्तराष्ट्रीय मानचित्र पर प्रसिद्धि दिलवाई है। यह भूमि देवताओं की क्रीड़ा स्थली एवं ऋषि मुनियों की तपो भूमि प्राचीन सभ्यताओ की समकालीन रही है। शास्त्रों में शुद्धदेती के नाम से प्रसिद्ध इस नगरी के नाम का सफर भी बड़ा ही रोमांचक एवं रोचक रहा है। आबू और अजमेर के बीच किराड़ू लोद्रवा के पुंगल राज के दौरान पंवारों का यहां पर भी राज था तथा राजा त्रंबसेन त्रववसेन सोजत पर राज करता था तब इस नगरी का नाम त्रंबावती नगरी हुआ करता था।
राजा त्रवणसेन के सोजत सेजल नाम की एक 8-10 वर्षीय पुत्री थी जो देवताओं की कला को प्राप्त कर शक्ति का अवतार हुई। यह बालिका आधीरात को पोल का द्वार बंद होने के बाद देवी की भाखरी पर चौसठ जोगनियों के पास रम्मत करने जाती थी राजा को शक होने पर उसने अपने प्रधान सेनापति बान्धर हुल को उसका पीछा करने का निर्देश दिया। एक दिन सेजल के रात्रि में बाहर निकलने पर बांधर उसके पीछे पीछे भाखरी तक गया तब जोगनियों ने कहा आज तो तूं अकेली नहीं आई है। तब सेजल ने नीचे जाकर देखा तो उसे सेनापति नजर आया। सेजल ने कुपीत होकर उसे शाप देना चाहा तब वह उसके चरणों में गिर गया तथा बताया कि वह तो उनके पिताजी के आदेश से आया है। इस पर उसने बांधर को आशीर्वाद दिया तथा अपने पिता को शाप दिया। बालिका ने बांधर से कहा कि आज से राजा का राज तुझे दिया। तू इस गांव का नाम मेरे नाम सोजत पर रखकर अमुक स्थान पर मेरी स्थापना करके पूजा करना। इतना कहकर वह देवस्वरुप बालिका जोगनियों के साथ उड़ गई। राजा को जब यह बात पता चली तो दुखी होकर उसने अपने प्राण त्याग दिए। इसी बांधर हुल ने सेजल माता का मंदिर एवं भाखरी के नीचे चबूतरा तथा पावता जाव के पीछे बाघेलाव तालाब खुदवाया। इसके बाद सोजत पर कई वर्षों तक हुलों का राज रहा जिसमें हरिसिंह हुल हरिया हुल नाम से प्रसिद्ध राजा हुआ।
इसके बाद में मेवाड़ा के राणा ने इसे सोनगरा एवं सींघलों को दे दिया। राव राधवदास सहेसमलोत को रावताई में पट्टे में दिया गया। राव जोधा ने लक्ष्मीनारायण के ठाकुरद्वारे के रूप में दिया। सोनगरा राजा रावल कानड़ दे का राज भी सोजत पर रहा, राणा ने राव रिडमल को मंडोर के साथ सोजत दिया। राणाकुंभा ने राव राघोदास को पट्टे में दिया। राजा पृथ्वीराज चौहान, नाहड राव पंवार मधो लहर की वेढ़ के बाद सोलंकी राजा भींवदे, फिर सिंघलों का राज रहा। बाद में राव सुजा को बादशाह ने यह नगरी दी। वहीं राव वीरम देव को भाई बन्ट में प्राप्त हुई। संन 1588 में रावगंगा के अधिकार में रहा उसके बाद उसके पुत्र राव मालदेव तथा उसके बाद राव चन्द्रसेन का राजतिलक हुआ। संत 1621 में अकबर बादशाह का अधिकार सोजत पर हो गया। राव कला रांमोत केक बाद क्रमश सोजत पर राव सुरताण जैमलोत, संवत 1665 में राजा सूरज सिंह 1676 में राजा गजसिंह, 1694 में जसवन्त सिंह, रायसिंह , मोटा राजा उदय सिंह ने 1641 में इसके नवाब खान खाना को दिया। 1956 मेें शक्ति सिंह को 1 वर्ष के लिए दिया गया। 1664 में जहागीर ने इसे करम सेन उग्र से नोत को दिया। महाराजा विजय सिंह के समय सोजत में कई निर्माण कार्य हुए। बात सोजत रा परंगना री में मुहंता नैणसी लिखता है कि छोटी सी भाकरी उपर छोटा सा कोट है जिसमें सादे मकान है। राजा गजसिंह के समय एक घर नया बना यहां वीरम दे बाधावत देवस्वरूप हुआ। जिसका दिवला बना हुआ है। घोड़े बधने की पायगा बनी हुई है घर के बाहर दरबार बैठने का चबुतरा है। किले के एक पोल है जो राव निंबा जोधावत द्वारा बनवाई है।
तुर्कोद्वारा परकोटा बनवाया हुआ है। परगने में हाकम, सरदार रहते है परकोटे की प्रोल के उपर दीवान खाना तथा नीचे कोठार है। प्रोल के नजदीक चारभुजा मंदिर है। सोजत के तालाबों का हलवा देते हुए नैणसी ने बताया कि धुवन्ली वाड़ी के पास कुंवर वाधा सुजावत ने बघेवाल किले के नीचे रिडमल ने रिडमेलाव पावटा के आगे बाघेलाव जो अब पाट दिया गया है तथा श्रीमाली ब्राह्मण गादा ने हणवन्त थान के पास सोझाली की स्थापना कर हनवन्त नाडी खुदवाई है।
